Fluff
- Fae Tide is a dream. A once a year magical world, a gateway to the land of Faery, childhood memories of fireflies and warm summer nights. It's lost love and eternal hope. It's melancholy and homesickness entwined with the ecstatic laughter of children. Fae Tide is lush green grass under bare feet, the smell of dew and rivers, lakes and oceans at night. It's the wonder of lights in the dark, costumes in starlight, and dancing in moonlight.
What
- A festival of lights, held in one location where the contributions of just a few people can turn a simple night time park into a fey magical otherworld.
- Free games, candies, food, and activities for all ages, which are all really just a thinly disguised excuses to play with thousands of glow sticks, and anything else that looks cool in the dark.
- Competitions for the best creations of light, costumes, and artwork.
When
- Right now, it’s is held every year on the last Friday in June, from just before sundown to midnight.
Where
- Currently the only area that celebrates Fae Tide (so far) is San Diego County. Every Fae Tide since 2004 (the first one) has been held at Ellen Scripps Browning Park, which is in downtown/coastal La Jolla, California.
Why
- Did I mention the chance to play with thousands of glow sticks, all at the same time?
Who
- Anyone who shows up.
